I depend on my fitness goals to help maintain my sobriety. A healthy dopamine release replaces the desire for bad ones. When I’m being a better person to myself, I am capable of being that person to everyone around me. Our family dynamic has improved so much, and I am so grateful for all of the help along the way. Last year I decided to get my CRS (Certified Recovery Specialist) so that I can help other people who are struggling the same way I was. Recovery is possible.
What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?I really try to focus on mind muscle connection while I lift. I’m a firm believer in lowered weight and more sets to achieve hypertrophy and to condition specific muscles. It’s not unusual to catch me doing 7 sets of 12-15. Momentum is not my thing, and I tend to look a bit stoic while performing sets. Form does matter!
What would you do with $20,000?I would love to take my entire family on a well deserved, extended, vacation, or put in a pool at home, but we’ve been taking some much needed leaps of faith recently that focus more on overall happiness, and replenishing savings would be the top priority for the future of our family.
