Receive Text UpdatesI train to break the stigma of illness. Diagnosed at 13 with autoimmune diseases, I was told my limits. Then diagnosed with lupus after my last child, the doctors told me to apply for social security. I did NOT want that path. Fitness became my rebellion, my peace, and my savior. I taught my kids the benefits of being physically active and taking care of one’s self thru the gym. I became a national record holder for deadlifts in the NPL LEAGUE at 47 and that reflects my determination.
What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?Powerlifting 3–4 times a week and Zumba 3 times a week. Strength gives me power and confidence; dance gives me joy and freedom. Together, they remind me that fitness isn’t just about surviving—it’s about feeling alive.
What would you do with $20,000?I’d invest in my home and build a dedicated training space with a power rack, Olympic bar, and plates—so I can continue pushing my limits and showing others that strength is possible at any stage, with any diagnosis. It wouldn’t just be equipment—it would be a platform to inspire.
