What fuels your passion for health and fitness?

Love and joy! I first started working out in my late teens as a way to cope with my severe social anxiety and anger issues. I found peace and calm through training. The soul's expression through physical movement is pure joy. I can look back and see how I have changed over the years. But one constant was always health and fitness. I now know that mental and spiritual health are as important as physical health, and you're never too old to learn something new or change your life for the better.

What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?

I tried a few forms of traditional martial arts, then took a boxing/kickboxing class in 1993 and was instantly hooked on both the workout and the instructor, lol! Carlos and I opened our own boxing and personal training gym less than a year after we started dating. We still own and run the gym today, almost 32 years later. I enjoy training 6 days a week with my husband, doing calisthenics and weightlifting, and I love hitting the heavy bag. I also meditate daily to keep my mind and heart happy.

What would you do with $20,000?

I've always wanted to be an artist since I was a child, but my tiger mom wouldn't allow it. I designed all the logos and artwork for our gym and made some branded clothing, but I never got the merchandise side of the business off the ground. So many people have said I should sell more of my designs, but getting started would be costly. With $20,000, I could manufacture a line of branded merchandise featuring my designs and set up an online store to promote our gym and fulfill a childhood dream.
