Receive Text UpdatesIn 2002, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Shortly after I started chemotherapy and completed six months of treatment. I was proclaimed in remission in 2003. Before cancer, I realized I took life for granted. After cancer, I began to appreciate every day, explaining my personal motto: Carpe Diem—seize the day. No one is promised tomorrow, and facing cancer taught me just how true that is. Fitness is my way of expressing gratitude and celebrating that my body is strong enough to move.
What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?Ten years ago, I discovered yoga and started taking weekly classes. I fell in love with the balance it brought—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I loved the flexibility I gained and the challenge of pushing myself into difficult poses. My commitment deepened, and nearly three years ago, I earned my yoga certification. Since then, teaching has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. Yoga truly fills my cup. It gives me strength, balance, and presence both on and off the mat.
What would you do with $20,000?Today, my husband, Kevin and I are beyond blessed with two incredible children. Our son, Flynn, is a senior at Truman State University and plans to attend law school this fall at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Our daughter, Katharine, is a sophomore at the University of Missouri and was recently accepted into their nursing program. They are constant reminders of hope, perseverance, and gratitude. I want to continue helping them chase their dreams.
