Receive Text UpdatesI have battled being overweight my entire life. I have lifted weights since I was 14 (currently 36 years old), but have been anywhere between 240-150lbs more than once throughout that time. I experienced severe postpartum depression after the birth of my daughter six years ago, & dug myself out of the mental spiral of self-loathing & binge eating as a coping mechanism by replacing my food addiction with my gym addiction! I was in a dark, dark place, but weightlifting & Jesus saved my life!
What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?As a busy mom, I have adapted a somewhat non-traditional split that covers total body every workout. I lift heavy, focusing more on reps like 6-8 at my max weight. I do a lot of burnouts and progressive overload. I have successfully re-comp’d my physique and regained my confidence in a way that has my inbox full asking “how I do it?” on a daily basis. Very blessed to have developed self-discipline and regained my mental health by handcrafting a “new and improved” me! I hope to inspire others!
What would you do with $20,000?I’m a HS teacher at an extremely rural school (240 kids across grades 7-12) & our weightroom is a lot of the equipment my husband used when he attended school there 20 years ago! I would take $10K & buy newer equipment for our students/make the weightroom more female friendly. With the other $10K, we have yet to take a vacation since becoming a family of 4. My husband is a police chief & rarely ever gets a day off because they are short an officer right now. We’d give anything to take a cruise.
